Siena and Piazzale Michelangelo, last day in Florence

We took the bus to Siena for a few hours today.

There's a famous horse race, the Palio di Siena that takes place in this square, in fact, it took place yesterday. It's a beautiful, shell-shaped Piazaa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piazza_del_Campo
The Duomo in Sienna. Every surface is marble, it has unusual black and white marble pillars. The floors are spectacular.

After Siena, we took a local bus to Piazzale Michelangelo (#13 bus) as it was high up and we were tired. This location provides an amazin lookout over Florence.

Me, clutching my Nikon D60, what most of the photos in this blog were taken with.
After Pizzale Michelangelo, walked back to da i'Conte Dilladdarno for dinner. We had an amazing meal again. I highly recommend this place if you ever come to Florence. They do traditional Tuscan dishes, the service is excellent and the price is reasonable. The wine flowed, grappa ensued, and the staff had amazing music in the background.

Antonio (waiter) and Luca (owner) posing with their flavoured grappa, my favourite...chocolate.. and chilli.
Us after dinner and a few drinks!

We now say goodbye to Florence, we are on the 10am train out of here to Venice... in just a few hours. When I get home, I'm sourcing out a good Tuscan restaurant and looking up a few recipes!

We also went to Luca's restaurant on the recommendation of a friend who spent spring semester in Florence. It was the best meal of our month-long trip!
Enjoyed your photo journal. Perhaps some day I can learn how to take such wonderful photos.
