The scenic drive from Milan to Erlach

Jake's cousin Pete drove us to Erlach (a small town in Switzerland, 1/2 hour from Bern where Nina (Pete's sister lives) in his little Mini. The trip took 4-5 hours, with stops. It was beautiful along the way, he took the scenic way instead of freeway, well worth the extra hour it took.

Hydrangeas are everywhere

Hotel on Lake Lugano

An island in the lake, who lives here?!

Mining for marble or granite on the mountainside

One of the many tunnels through the mountains
Swiss/Italian border, just drive through, open border more or less
Me, Jake and Pete at a stop off at Simplon-Hopschusse. Beautiful scenery, and it was cold!!
Some of the roads we took through the mountains

The roads sometimes went up the mountain in a zig-zag pattern
At one point, we drove onto a train that took us through the mountain for 15 minutes. There are no roads at this part.
